Shower construction details
Superseded bolt, sealing, curb, and direct-to-frame studies have been removed. These notes support the dimensioned details on the main construction page; they do not replace the current wedi manuals or written approvals.
1D1 simple frame and moving leaf
Opening edge
Keep the existing 31.5 x 76 x 1/2-inch partition plywood intact. Seal the exposed opening edge. After the full-size mockup, add only the small face-mounted stop and compression gasket plus local through-bolted latch backing. Do not rip off or replace a full-height hardwood strip, and do not rely on screws driven into plywood end grain.
Standard oak boards
At C use one standard S4S white-oak 1 x 2, actual 3/4 inch across the opening x 1.5 inches deep x 72 inches high, for the hinge upright. Use the remainder of the 8-foot board for the field-fit head, expected about 20.25 inches long. Use one standard S4S white-oak 1 x 4 project board for the dry-side bottom apron. The Wedi Lean Curb remains continuous directly behind the apron and is the waterproof threshold.
Moving leaf
Use 12 mm / nominal 1/2-inch, 9-ply Baltic birch at 19.5 inches nominal width. Do not add Wedi. Cut height only after the finished head and curb exist. On the shower face use the selected microcement manufacturer's approved plywood sequence: primer, full-face reinforcement mesh, flexible base coats, finish coats, and waterproof sealer. Seal the kitchen face, all edges, and every hardware hole. Do not bridge the hinge, sweep, latch pockets, or operating gaps with microcement.
Hinge and bottom
The Guden TS05050406-72 Type 316 continuous hinge stays inside the shower. Prove its permanent fastener pattern on the standard upright and Baltic-birch mockup before drilling. The door sweep lands over the sloped finished Wedi curb, not on oak. No apron, hinge, or latch fastener penetrates the curb top or wet face.

3Cab wall and bolt heads
Do not notch or pocket the wedi over the bolt heads. Measure every projection from the factory-plywood face. Select the thinnest actual overlay that finishes at least 1/16 inch beyond the tallest head. Drill local clearance holes in that overlay so it bears directly on the factory plywood around each head.
Fasten the 1/2 wedi through the new flat plane into verified cab structure. The overlay is not the primary structure. Above the 63.25-inch ledge, use scribed structural ribs and a matching skin to make one flat vertical wall plane; only its top edge is scribed to the curved ceiling.
4Curved ceiling backing
Keep the first 12 inches flat at 76.25, then transition into one smooth curve to 72 at the cab wall. The 14.335-inch radius is reference geometry only. Make a full-size shell template, cut paired 3/4-inch plywood profile ribs, bridge them with five clear transverse 1 x 2 battens at no more than 6-inch stations, and laminate two 3 mm BS1088 okoume skins over the profile.
Wedi hold: the later 1/2-inch ceiling panel is relief-cut to bend. Obtain wedi's exact written method for waterproofing over those cuts in this wet ceiling before cutting or installing it.
5Floor, wall and curb junction

No floor cut yet. Confirm drain X/Y, underside clearance, pipe fall, support, trap/reducer and service access first.
6D2 rail, guide and seals
- The structural head carries the top rail. Wedi carries no rail load.
- The wet-side rail cover must be removable without disturbing waterproofing.
- Use the Husky pack's BG1 as a short local bottom guide at the closing jamb/curb, not a full floor rail.
- No guide, latch or stop fastener penetrates the pan or curb wet face.
- Use replaceable head, closing-jamb and bottom seals that shed water into the shower.
- Provide independent positive latches in both closed and parked positions for travel.
7Fan, porthole and drying penetrations

8Approval boundary
Details still requiring written manufacturer direction: 1/4 wedi over the kitchen plywood and wardrobe; mechanical attachment through thin support skins in a moving vehicle; exact US9100006 trimming; the complete microcement-over-wedi system; any 2-to-1.5 trap transition; and VETUS acceptance of the FAN12 location and closure/backdraft strategy.
